- I was just thinking about the same thing. Welding them directly to the drip rail to spread the load when it leans against something.

- Sorry It took me so long to get back to you. I had to pull my carrier out and my ring gear off because it was too thick. It was easy though. As long as you mark your ring gear and the carrier so it goes back on the same it came off... you don't have to re-set up your gears or anything...
